QUESTION: Is the Bible really the Word of God?

ANSWER:

Knowing in our hearts if the Bible is the Word of God will greatly determine how we live our lives. In fact, it could influence how we spend eternity! It will determine if we let the Bible influence us on a daily basis or if we dismiss it.

Many people believe that through the Bible, God gave mankind all we need to know to have a personal relationship with Him. They believe that the Bible is the final authority for faith, religious practice, morals, and all matters of life.

How do we know if the Bible is just a good book? Is it just another religious book? Is it really the Word of God?

Internal Evidence:
2 Timothy 3:15-17 say, "...from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

• The Bible is unified. Even though it was written over 1500 years by more than 40 writers, the Bible is unified in content and focus. This is evidence that it was inspired by someone other than the writers themselves.

• The Bible has authority and power. Countless lives have been changed and transformed through its message! Power like this only comes from the authority of God.

External Evidence:

• The Bible is historically accurate. The accounts in the Bible has been proven through archaeological evidences and written historical record. Some claim it is the best documented book from the ancient world.
  
  
• The integrity of the human authors lend to it being the Word of God. Even though God used men from all walks of life, evidence exists for their honesty and sincerity. Man of these men died as martyrs. They truly believed that God spoke to them!
  
  
• The Bible is indestructible. Over the years, governments and powerful people have tried to destroy it, but have been unsuccessful. The Bible has withstood and outlasted all of these attacks! It continues to be the most published book in history!
